In the spirit and season of giving, BMW South Africa partnered with Bang & Olufsen to host an auction with a difference, giving bidders an opportunity to buy exclusive merchandise and help those less fortunate at the same time.

The idea of the auction for a good cause began with BMW South Africa entering, and subsequently winning the global incentive programme with Bang and Olufsen, which ran from the end of 2014 into 2015. The grand prize was a Bang & Olufsen television worth R174 000.
Instead of simply taking the prize, it was seen as an opportunity to give something back. BMW South Africa partnered with Bang and Olufsen to host an auction for charity. In addition to the television set we were also able to auction various streaming devices and headphones offered by Bang & Olufsen.

Speaking at the auction event, Mr Guy Kilfoil, BMW Group South Africa’s General Manager for Brand Management BMW, Marketing Services BMW Group, said; “We decided to partner with Bang & Olufsen and give back to the less fortunate, especially at this time of the year. We are pleased to see some of our customers – as well as Bang & Olufsen customers – taking part in this initiative.”
The auction proceeds, which totalled R343 200, were donated to the Soshanguve Technical High School. This is a welcome addition to the ongoing work with the Soshanguve community and the donation is in line with the goals of the BMW Group South Africa’s corporate social investment programme.

It would not have been possible however, without the partnership BMW Group shares with Bang & Olufsen. Our shared dedication to excellent craftsmanship, makes Bang and Olufsen high-end surround sound systems a natural choice for our top of the range models such as the BMW 5 and 6 Series as well as the BMW X5 and X6. The uptake of BMW vehicles ordered with the Bang & Olufsen system in South Africa has substantially increased to date. It has secured BMW Group South Africa’s market position as one of the highest ranking with this feature in vehicles globally, and increased our sustainability overall.

We are proud to be able to be in a position to help those less fortunate as a result. This, and successful partnerships like it, continue to assist BMW South Africa in uplifting surrounding communities.
