The enduro-packed BMW F 700 GS, F 800 GS and F 800 GS Adventure receives some new updates for 2017. These updates make the GS models in the F series more nimble around bends with its optimised handling and it’s combined with a high level of travel suitability and tough off-road competence…giving you sporty dynamics on any road.

For 2017, BMW Motorrad has optimised and fine-tuned the qualities of the mid-range segment models making the range even more striking than before. New colour combinations such as Light White, Racing Red or Singapore Grey are available for the F 700 GS.  While the F 800 GS is available in Light White, Blackstorm and Ostra Grey.  Even though the F 800 GS Adventure didn’t get an update last year, you have the colour options of Racing Red and Catalano Grey as well as galvanised radiator trims and an integrated GS emblem on the tank and windshield.

In addition, the airbox cover and ignition lock housing have been redesigned.  The colour options and additions enhances the motorcycle’s distinctive character.

All three models now comes with:

  • A new instrument panel with analogue speedometer and multi-function display are now easier to read and provides more information. It includes a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) that is now in line with Euro4 requirements.
  • A new exhaust can for the standard tailpipe.
  • The BMW HP sports silencer by Akrapovič, an optional accessory, has also been redesigned.
  • The unique liquid-cooled four-valve, two-cylinder engine with fuel injection and six-speed gearbox guarantees powerful forward thrust as before.
  • New reflectors on the forks.

Driving modes

Whether you use “Rain” or “Road” (available on all three models) or “Enduro” and “Enduro Pro” (available only for F 800 GS and F 800 GS Adventure) modes, you will experience an improved response like no other. Whichever mode you choose, your selection is brought about by an electromotive throttle that passes your commands straight from a sensor on the twist grip to the engine control system through to the throttle valve.  Any mode can be used to ride on damp or dry surfaces.  Use “Enduro” and “Enduro Pro” for lighter and more intense off-road use respectively.

Some upgrades were done to the engine but that doesn’t affect the 798cc twin-cylinder engine output. The F 700 GS still maintains 55kW and 77 Nm of torque giving you hard-hitting engine performance with a remarkable pulling power as well as low fuel consumption.  The F 800 GS and F 800 GS Adventure relies on its two-cylinder with 798 cc, however, it undertakes the unexpected roads with 63 kW of power and 83 Nm of torque.

The engine emits a soft low-level vibration thanks to an additional connection rod (which compensates the first and second order sluggishness) that balances out the two-cylinder engine.

This mid-range segment motorcycles shows off its powerful yet distinct character and offers you enhanced travel suitability even in the most rugged parts of the planet. And they have earned their keep with their superb wide-ranging qualities that provides you with miles of riding fun on and off the beaten track.
