Now in its second generation, the BMW X1 has pioneered the way after creating a vehicle class of its own and selling over 730 000 units. But what makes this vehicle quite so desirable? Why should you be excited about the latest generation of the BMW X1?

The new BMW X1 is a typical X model, perhaps even more so than its predecessor. Its rugged proportions, a powerful presence and dynamic lines lend it an almost authoritative presence, despite it being the youngest member of the BMW X model family.

A marked improvement

It isn’t just the improved appearance of the BMW X1 that warrants mentioning. The raised seating position and height of the vehicle are also far more enjoyable and optimise the view and general enjoyment of the drive. Surprisingly, the larger proportions have not caused any loss in efficiency. In fact, the new BMW X1 offers lower fuel consumption and emissions than the previous generation, by an impressive 17 percent. The available technology and driver assistance systems have also been given a boost since the last generation of X1 and now include the BMW Head-Up Display, BMW Driving Assist and Parking Assist – as well as a range of up-to-date apps available to enhance your driving experience.

Optimised for a better drive

The BMW engineers have also been hard at work to make sure that the vehicle’s performance and drive quality live up to the improved design. Four-cylinder engines from the BMW Group’s latest generation of power units, an efficiency-optimised version of the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and newly developed chassis technology all help to palpably enhance sporting ability and ride comfort in the new BMW X1. Two petrol and one diesel unit are available and outputs range from 100 kW to 170 kW.

The choice is yours

As usual, BMW has a range of customisation options available. Features such as full-LED headlights and automatic tailgate operation are now available as optional extras to the BMW X1. Prospective customers can also opt for either the Advantage, Sport Line, xLine or M Sport package to further enhance their experience in the vehicle.
